friends of insight

I have this friend who I'm not sure he realizes how talented he is.

He always amazes me with his prose and poems. Each time I read something that he writes I get this huge smile and think "I'm so lucky to have friends that are not only really cool, but really talented and make me want to be better at everything."

He is so eccentric, hip, and fashionable. Once we played checkers and watched The Lizzie McGuire Movie, and I had never laughed so hard!
And he is quite the Music Gypsy. Always willing to share the jewels of music he finds with me, and I as well trade with him.

Man walking. Step. Step. Step.
Rubs me the wrong way.
Wears his brown shoes a little too dressy,
and a little too caked with clay.
Wears his blue jeans a little too wrangler,
and a little too blue, true blue.
Wears his black shirt a little too Walmart,
with a sentence a little too ew.
Has a belly a little too prominent,
and pasty flesh a little too white.
Wears a beard a little too bushy,
and red hair a little too bright.
And as this man goes walking by,
I make my conclusion final.
Man, there's not one thing wrong with you,
I'm just a little too judgmental.

letters #2

dear turntable,
I am so happy you are not a Lazy Susan. If you were I would never have known this happiness that has overcome me. Each time I hear that 'click' that the record has stopped playing meaning I get to turn it over to side B. Or that I can turn the speed up and listen to music in almost a chipmunk voice, making my nieces glow with happy. Or the fact that my brother-in-law showed me the proper way to listen to secret messages backwards. I love you Lazy Susan (official name for the turntable).

dear bed,
I always forget how much I've missed you after leaving to school, especially how great I feel in the mornings. Keep up the good work.

dear snow,
I don't know why you insist on staying in my life for the next few months. Not trying to rude or anything, but the sooner you melt away, the better.

dear Spring,
I miss you. I miss the warm hugs your wind gives me in the morning when I walk outside. I miss the green grass and the sun shining on my face. I miss everything about you.

god bless the postman

for he has brought me good fortune!!!

from my text books to bedding, and now a turntable!

(when I told Mr. Kramer that I had gotten a turntable, he seriously thought I meant a Lazy Susan! Besides, "turntable" sounds more legit than "record player")

I already have a pretty nice vinyl collection starting
1. Under The Blacklight by Rilo Kiley
2. Carpetbaggers -Single by Jenny Lewis
3. Oh, Inverted World by The Shins
4. Fleet Foxes by Fleet Foxes
5. Hold Time by M. Ward
6. Volume One by She & Him
7. Abbey Road by The Beatles
8. Stones by Neil Diamond
9. Honkey Chateau by Elton John
10. Herb Alpert & Hugh Masekela by H.A. & H.M.

I'm too excited to carry this jewel around with me! Well, maybe not carry it around with me, since it's about the size of my 70's luggage bags...
but I'll bring it to the park once the sun is out and the grass is green.

snow, snow, go away

It snowed again today,
as it will for the next couple days.

You know how when it snows in the beginning of the season
and once it hits the end of January/beginning of February
you dread snowfall because all you can look forward to
is seeing the sun and flowers again?

Yeah, I'm at that point.

Snow was fun, but the warmth will bring in newfound happiness

when bag meets head

Hmm, I just want to do this,

If you look at hair in some cases, it sort of acts as confidence if you happen to feel good about it
in my case, on Sunday, I lost 2 1/2 inches of confidence.
I no longer know what to do with my hair
and am finding myself unhappy about it in all forms

(reason behind cutting hair in the first place is because once your hair gets to that inch beneath your shoulder, it just looks weird... and because of that weirdness I had no patience for it to grow longer and cut it on a whim)

good thing hair grows back!

blogfriend post of the month

I'm a big fan of lists.

& you are my fave is my fave

(one of her posts, posted Jan. 8)
"An indie girl's resolutions for the new year:
- learn French
- only wear vintage dresses, throw away my jeans
- start a band with a recorder, accordion and tambourine
- become vegan
- discover at least one unknown band a month, deny liking them if they ever make it big
- go to yoga at least five days a week
- only use my bike for transportation
- be more mysterious
- ask yourself everyday, "What would Zooey Deschanel do?"
- quit my day job and just be awesome for a living"

true or false?

school can't wait much more

Today, is my last day for Winter break.
I head back to Logan.
Cold, Logan, where I have to leave my car behind and trek everywhere.
Where I have to start studying and taking things seriously.
Where I can not stay up past 12...
and will surely always be up by 8...

I can't wait.

This past month has been treasured to say the least
1. Grace was born
2. was able to work back at my old job
3. saw old friends
4. watched many movies
5. Christmas came & went
6. was scared out of my mind...
7. went to a New Years dance
8. Naomi was born
9. started three new books (still need to learn to start one at a time...)
10. did (or tried) some de-cluttering in my room
11. ordered some new bedding for my future room in Ohio

It's been good in Utah County but Kramer & I
have some things on our minds
for this new semester.
As in, having a couple parties and makes lots of friends!
And possibly having our own little photo-shoots
with his amazing new camera!

To Do in Logan
1. buy groceries
2. get amazing grades
3. save money!
4. make friends
(this could end up being optional if school needs more attention...,
but friends make more the merrier)
5. keep my side of the room clean...

coin laundry

my friend Melissa Penelope Gallup is graduating this winter semester
at BYU-Idaho in Photography!
She is such an amazing photographer and recently went to Texas
to photograph a wedding!
For her final project at BYU-I, she asked me & my friend Taylor (also from USU)
to pose in this amazing laundromat !
It was so nerve-racking, awkward, and fun.
